What is PDA?
PDA shorts for personal digital assistant. It is a computer that fits in your hand. The PDA combines computing, telephone/fax, Internet and networking features.
A PDA usually includes a small screen usually bigger than a digital phone, however smaller than the smallest laptop, a small QWERTY keyboard that is made for thumb typing. Generally, a stylus is set to input data and words.
Today's PDA is very small in size, fits in a pocket and has good battery life. PDAs are also called palmtops, pocket computers and hand-held computers.
What is a PDA phone?
It was lacking of standardization for the PDA phone, so confusing to the consumer.
Years ago, many people distinguished PDA from smartphone simply by touch screen capabilities. If it had a touch screen it was a PDA, if it didn't, it was a smartphone. But more and more phones have a touch screen and also a QWERTY keyboard.
Most PDA phones began as pen-based, using a stylus rather than a keyboard for input. Handwriting recognition features are requested. PDA phones of today are available in either a stylus or keyboard version. A typical PDA phone can function as a cellular phone, fax sender, Web browser and personal organizer.
What are the mainly functions of PDA phone?
Generally, a PDA phone incorporate cellular phone functionality and wireless local area network (LAN) capability. It can connect to the Internet to check email, send messages, or watch the stock market. It can store telephone numbers, email addresses, access the internet, make calculations, keep a digital calendar and play games.
Today, you can also use your PDA phone to share pictures and videos with friends and family. Connection can be done with a USB cable connection, a wireless Bluetooth, or via a wireless local area network (WLAN). Of course, you can use SMS, MMS, WAP/GPRS, calling and so on with like a cell phone.
